Barefoot Heaven

The kids call this place "Barefoot Heaven." They discovered it with Jeff one day a few years ago. They love it just because they can kick off their shoes and go wading even when it's still a little chilly out (which is alot of the time here in Panguitch)! The sand gets nice and toasty and the mud is great.
Even Leighton sat and watched the stream for a little while. It was quite breezy so we didn't last too long before she and I headed back to the Bronco while the others played.

The Hills Are Alive!

McKenna just finished up her role as Marta in the Panguitch High School production of "The Sound of Music." She did a great job as did all the other students in the play. It's amazing to me the talent the youth in our area possess. What an outstanding performance they gave!

Two's Company

Addison came in to me a few weeks ago and told me that her dad had said I would throw her a friend birthday party (thanks Jeff!). Her birthday was on Easter this year so we finally got around to it. One of my great friends here in Panguitch had a son the day after Addison was born, so we got together for a double party. We met all the kids at the park and just let them play, play, play! One of the best and easiest birthday parties I have every done! No tears, no stress - just fun for everyone!
Jenson and Addison
The whole group - yeah for 5 year olds!

Turkey Hunt

Jeff and his friend Jake went out turkey hunting yesterday morning and both bagged themselves a bird! Addison and her friend Jaci were here when the proud hunter returned home with his prize. Where else but in a small Utah town can you actually go to the school, get your kids out and take a photo of them with the kill from your mornings hunt?!? I had no idea Jeff did this until he got home and said "I wonder how many rules I just broke?" Now on to how to cook the birds - guess I'll leave that up to Garrett and Jeff!

Sleep and Awake

Easter

We celebrate the Easter Bunny on the Saturday before Easter Sunday. Each year we hide the kid's baskets. The older the child the harder it is to find. We were leaving for Kanab and Moccasin this year so we gave little hints for the older kids to find theirs. Even Leighton was amazed at finding her basket under her crib. If only she had known during the night ... hmmm!

Birthday Girls

I love the look on Addison's face! She is such a happy girl! She is now a 5 year old counting the days until Kindergarten!
All Addison wanted for her birthday cake was a vanilla cake, chocolate frosting and M&M's. McKenna was feeling sorry for herself that she didn't have such a cute cake - and all I did was decorate Addison's with the M&M's. You can see how talented I am in the way of cake decorating if she gets jealous over this amateur cake! Usually I just frosted a cake or in McKenna's case this year - just a cookie topped with a candle. She opted to forgo the cake in favor of the faster, more readily enjoyed cookie so we could go play Wii - Just Dance that she got for her birthday.
Three of my girls - Kimber was dancing around elsewhere and Garrett - we'll lets just say he's on girl/sister overload!

Licenses and Easter Eggs

I really don't have any idea what easter eggs have to do with licenses but McKenna refused to put the egg down. Silly girl! She got her learners permit today and drove home over Bear Valley from Cedar City. Her paranoid mother only let her go 45 mph, but she got to drive and was in absolute heaven! As for the egg, it has been boiled and colored and is patiently awaiting to become a wonderful egg salad sandwich!

First Piano Recital

Kimber had her first piano recital last week. She played two songs and did really great for just starting Piano in January. She had both songs memorized and didn't miss a beat or a note. Awesome job Kimber!

State FCCLA Champ!

McKenna recently won state at FCCLA (Family, Career, Community Leaders of America)!!! This competition was held between all the school divisions in Utah - not just 1A. She will now be able to go onto Nationals in CHICAGO!!!
Her project focused on interpersonal communications between mothers and daughters. She and her friend Baylee hosted a tea party for girls on their cheer squad and their mothers. They called it "T" Time for Two and labeled the "T" teach, talk and trust. They invited Cynthia Kimball Humphreys to speak. Cynthia is a professional speaker and motivational trainer who lives in Hatch.
She can hardly wait to go to Chicago. We are so proud of you McKenna! Way to go!
