Several months ago, McKenna was asked to Junior Prom. Now let me warn you first. There is a bit of picture overload. Is it because it's our first child to go to prom? Nay, I say. It is because here in Panguitch Junior Prom ranks right up there with Christmas and the Balloon Festival. The whole class and their parents work for a week getting up decorations for the blessed night and the whole town turns out for the occasion - grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews...you get the picture.
Josh Henrie asked McKenna around February by loading her car up with confetti and balloons. She had to pop the balloons to find the letter to see who had asked her. She still comes in the house occasionally with a piece of confetti trailing behind!
The night of Prom - April 20th, Josh picked up McKenna not expecting her father to be waiting with his fancy smansy gun in tow. (Can't remember the name of the gun - AK something!)
A couple of co-workers and friends at the hospital bought matching dresses for their girls last year for prom and let me borrow them for our girls. All I did was tie the sash to match McKenna's dress.
Their theme was "A Journey Through Time". Now again, remember this is picture overload! Walking into the hall before the gym, they had a stork on its way to make a special delivery.
A tunnel guided us into the gym where baby pictures of all the class members were displayed.
Ok. So after 3 times of trying to get the massive amounts of pictures loaded, I gave up with trying to get them in the right order. Just bear with me and we jump around the journey through time! Here we are when the kids started out school - Kindergarten through 3rd grade pics are in the background as McKenna and Cassidy with their dates, Mason and Josh.
Kick back to preschool days and afternoons spent on the playground...
OK, I am frustrated of trying to get the next pic to show up and it keeps jumping all over the post - literally - everytime I even just try to get by it. Anyways, just know they were both at little desks, McKenna leading over to copy off Josh's paper. Yep - that's my girl! Just thank me for saving you from one more picture!
Fast forward 10 years to middle school and their overnight bus trip to the Grand Canyon. Yep we actually let our little 8th graders out of our sight on an overnight school trip!
Upstairs the gym had been transformed into their high school days. Well sort of - McKenna and her friend Baylee are kids at heart and decorated the upstairs with a lemonade stand and tree house.
However, on this corner, they were more sentimental and had random pics of their class haning on the wall to the right of them. Another photo you won't have to scroll through - thankyou!

Again with Cassidy and Mason-whom they doubled with.
Jeff, Garrett and I spent 4 nights down at the gym helping McKenna and Baylee on their section, as well as Baylee's parents and sisters, Sam's folks, Jake and his mom and Garrett and his mom. Whew. And to think I don't even have a pic of how the lemonade stand or the tree turned out! I think I was so sick of it by Friday night I was just glad to shoot a couple of pics of the reason why we did what we did!
In the middle of the gym the kids had constructed this huge clock tower with actual working clocks on opposite sides that chimed on the half hours.
Girls will be girls if given the right dress!
My 4 girls! All ready for a night at the "ball" as Leighton kept calling it. Her favorite video right now is Cinderella. Yes its a video on VHS. We still have those at our house! Leighton would not put her hands down and kept pulling on her cheeks. Silly girl!
These two are so good for each other. I love how they have grown up over the last few years. They are an incredible blessing! I used to worry about having teenagers, but I love it!
The class of 2013!
Waiting for promenade to start! I love Leighton's face!
Addison escorted McKenna. All the Junior girls had an escort. All the Junior boys go in together on a gift for the girls in their class. It's really a sweet tradition. Addison carried a small rhinestone bracelet and at the end of her escort handed it to Josh so he could put it on McKenna. Addison loved her chance to shine on McKenna's special night.
There is one reason why I love this picture - it's McKenna's inherited my ability to concentrate while having her tongue stick out!
After promenade, all the students dance with their parent. I am a little jealous - Jeff will get to do this 4 times while I will only get once! I guess that is one time when he feels it's ok to be outnumbered!
Leighton ran out in the middle of their dance and enjoyed the dance as well!
Jeff's parents came down and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with McKenna this special night!
Another visitor McKenna had - Cody from Kanab came up to make sure all her dances didn't go to Josh!
McKenna - ever the rebel had on her glittery Tom's shoes with mismatched socks! Yep that's my little refined cultered young woman!
I love this girl! She is an extrordinary young woman, an example to me and a blessing in our family! So glad Panguitch makes prom such a great family event. It was great to watch her shine!
cute!
