Sophomore Wrestler

November 2013 - February 2014

Garrett did wrestling again this year.  He is one tough guy!  It's great to watch him!
This is how his year started out.  Before any of the tourneys or duels even!  He came home from practice one night and had his knee wrapped up.  It was incredibly swollen that night and by the next day it was bruised from thigh to ankle.  One of the doctors was there at practice when it happened and took a look at it after a couple of days.  Ruptured bursa.  Bummer bursa is what I said!

Taking second at the Milford Tourney:

Third at region!

State bags with healthy (for the most part) snacks.  These boys are watching their figures!
28 bags - boys, coaches, driver and stat girls.

The traditional cheer sign!

The thing with state is the magnitude of it all.  At state this year there was 1A-5A all wrestling at the same time!  12 mats busy with boys!  The foreground is one of Garrett's teammates.  Garrett's match is in the back ground!  In all Garrett took about 5th at state.  They don't wrestle off for 5th and 6th.  The same as last year. He was awesome!

There is a lot to wrestling I don't understand, it's a new sport to me.  But what I do know is that it's an individual sport - contributing points to a team, it takes not only physical power but mental and it teaches these boys determination and perseverance.  It's also intense!  Proud of you Garrett - you never complain and get in there!  You also show respect for those you wrestle against and their coaches.  Way to go!

Ice Skating Panguitch Style

January 26:

The cold brings ice to our little area - in abundance!  At the end of our lane the creek spreads out over the fields.  As it iced over this year it has made quite a big area to slide around on!

A New Teen In The House!

January 26:

We have yet another teen in the house and I love it!  Really I do love this middle child of ours.  She is so incredibly humble, unassuming young woman.  Full of love and ready to help with anything, especially if it involves her littlest sister!  We love you Kimber!

Leighton wrapped her favorite book for Kimber to have!

All Kimber asked for was an ipod case...

and some new mechanical pencils!  She really couldn't think of anything else!

So we gave her favorite snack...

...and the following Monday I took her to Cedar City to her orthodontist appointment all by herself - no little sisters to watch over.  She chose where we ate - Wingers - and they treated her to Asphalt Pie.  We made a stop at Deseret Book where she picked out a scripture bag and some LDS jewelery.  A month later, Kimber found a new love/hobby to accompany her growing baking skills - cake decorating!  So at State Wrestles Jeff and I picked up a belated present of some cake decorating supplies.  Love you Kimber - you make our family complete!
