Piano Recital

November 22:

Friday we were able to meet at the Stake Center to listen to Kimber and Addison in their piano recital.  They both did a terrific job this year!  Kimber played Carol of the Bells and Mary's Lullaby from the Children's Songbook.  Addison played Frosty the Snowman and It Came Upon A Midnight Clear.  They both have increased in their skills this past year!  Love to hear music in our home!

Finger Painting

November 17th:

Sunday afternoon and Leighton decided to finger - hand paint - not on paper but on herself!

They Think It's Summer!

October 26th:

I have back tracked a little here, but forgot about these silly girls!  One day after school when Addy got home, they headed out back and before I knew it, Leighton was running inside for her swimsuit and filling a bucket of water!  They must really have Panguitch blood flowing through them!  Ice cold blood!

Just in Time

November 15th:

Elizabeth, Spencer, Analee and James stopped by on their way up north just in time to saddle up the horses and go for a ride.  It had been such beautiful weather the couple of days before, but decided to show true Panguitch colors (and cold) for these visitors!  We put the best available coat on James and a hat and headed out for a short ride.  Just remember that we have a family of girls and our only son is 16 years old! Pink is a good color - right?  James was eager to get on the horses and to pet them!  No fear!

After our company left, Jeff and Addison headed out west of the house for a short ride.  Short mainly because it was so cold!  Addison loves these little rides with Jeff in the hills around Panguitch!

Mom - Funeral Program

November 14th:

Twins?

November 13th:

They say you have a twin here on earth.  It's just a matter of time until you run into them or until you meet someone who says you look just like someone they know.  Here's proof positive - a gal here in town has a daughter who looks quite a lot like Addison - her twin?  What do you think?  Thanks Genny Houston for the picture!

And of course tonight (November 19th), McKenna just texted me this picture she put together.  Garrett's twin is just a little more famous - Taylor Lautner.  I can see why the girls here call him Garrett Lautner!

Here's Uncle Tony's picture just to compare as well:

Fantastic Service

November 10th:

Sunday, November 10th was another bittersweet day.  We were released as a Stake Young Women's Presidency.  I have grown to love these women the past 5 years.  They are truly amazing examples of love, service and faith.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve the Young Women of the Panguitch Stake.  They are the most amazing Young Women!  I learned so much from watching them, listening to them and laughing with them!  We have had some wonderful experiences - cutting doughnuts in half, girls camps, trek, nights of excellence, new beginnings, youth conferences, testimony meetings...the list goes on and on!

A Borrowed Facebook Post

November 8:

This post was entirely borrowed or stolen - which ever way you prefer to look at it - from my niece-in-law Heather Wells.  In fact it was so perfect that we used it on mom's funeral program:

A quote from Marjorie Hinckley that reminds me of Grandma Schmutz:
“I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.
I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.
I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children.
I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden.
I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.
I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.”

Mom

November 14th:

This is a post that I have shed a few tears over.  November 7th and 14th have been possibly two of the most bittersweet days of my life.  Mom's death and her funeral have been hard.  However at the same time they have possibly been some of the most memorable day with my siblings, father and loved ones.  There are no words to express the feelings I had through the last month of mom's life.  Being able to care for her with the skills I have developed as a nurse are days that I treasure.  The time spent with just my siblings - talking, laughing and crying are days that I am so very grateful for.  Mom said a few weeks before her passing that "This was going to be a good thing".  In every sense of the way - she was right on the dot.  It was a good thing for us to all be together and I believe that she was looking forward to being with her parents, brothers and sister again - a good thing.  Dad said that he was sad but not sorry about her passing.  I totally agree.
