Wisdom Gone...

January 17:

McKenna got her wisdom teeth taken out to get ready for her mission.  BAHAHAHA!  The things that came out of her mouth had everyone rolling!  I posted a movie to Facebook of it.  It was pretty much 2 hours of oddities and random conversations!

Being a Nurse

January 15:

One of the things about being a nurse is you never know what to expect from your kids.  I was sleeping this morning and woke to find Leighton had taken care of her "sick" animals with many bandaids!  Love it!  Later that evening a friend delivered some roses from an anonymous patient that had said he had so appreciated the care I had given him the previous night.  Wow - and a day later his wife dropped off a caramel apple for the same reason.  I bet they both had no idea what the other had done - they are just that way - quiet, generous and grateful!  Thank You!

Baker's Help

January 12:

As a little girl I remember mom giving my own little bit of dough to make my own loaf of bread while she was making hers.  I do the same, but sometimes wonder where my mom got all her patience!  Leighton loves her own loaves and sampling the dough and flour on the counter.  I hate the messes but oh if she has the memories I have - I will keep doing it just for that simple reason!  (And no those aren't black eyes - she loves to do her own makeup and on homedays - that is cheap entertainment!)

Poor Girl

January 3:

I was at work when Jeff called and said Leighton had put her hand on the stove while it was still hot.  He brought her down to the hospital so I could look at it.  She had blisters covering her palm!  McKenna took great care of her and Leighton's hand healed quickly thankfully!

New Year's Eve

December 31:

As I was getting ready for work, these two sweethearts were getting ready for New Years Eve!  They decided to celebrate the night in style!

Allergic to What?!?

October:

So I forgot to post this most momentous occasion.  At the start of the school year I talked to Garrett about eating more healthy - more fruits and vegetables - even if he doesn't like them.  He responded by telling me that he didn't like them because of how they made him feel - that it hurt.  So I said that I would just take him in to get tested for allergies.  He agreed and so we made an appointment for allergy testing.  Lo and behold - he is allergic to lots!  Every grass and many trees, and most of your "normal" fruits and veggies - carrots, celery, corn, nuts, watermelon, squash and the list goes on!  So in the end the doctor gave him a prescription for flonase and zyrtec and later we got an albuterol inhaler as well.  Bummer - now I have no ground to stand on when I tell him that I don't care if he doesn't like his veggies - eat them anyway!  He really is allergic and having the reaction deep in his esophagus - eosinphilic esophagitis!

Trying not to scratch the test areas!

Christmas 2013

Christmas 2013:

Christmas this year really started out with the Finch Family Party up in Spanish Fork at Evan and Michelle's home.  The only picture I got was Leighton and Kimber during the white elephant game.  I wish I would have captured the look on her face when she received some money from Grandpa and Grandma Finch.  It was this picture multiplied by 10!  Pure joy and excitement!

The ward party was a great way to bring in the Holiday Spirit as well!  Addison and Leighton jumped in line for a chance to visit with Santa - that is until Leighton saw Santa walk in!  Addison had her turn and...

Leighton watched her older sister with concern from a safe distance!

Leighton hosted Christmas in her room this year. She was so excited to be able to have her turn to join in this tradition.  She even had her own little tree with a small Nativity under it.

Just Like Mom

December 20:

I made mom's peanut brittle for the first time without her for several reasons.  Mainly because of the memories and then where would I get my Christmas supply!  The whole time I could hear her voice and laughter.  I may have even shed a few tears.  And yes - it turned out beautifully!  All I needed were just a couple of bites to satisfy that longing for a wonderful tradition of Christmas.  Thank you mom!  And thanks to Sharon who showed up a couple of days with a brand new candy pot - just like mom's!
